I paid a repairman to come out and paid $160 for a job that took 10 minutes. I had actually told him I thought it was the lid switch after reading from the internet. Anyway, it worked for one wash and now is doing the same thing. It will stop after filling and won't continue. I am able to wash now but only after sticking a screw driver in the part that clicks and leaving it there. Do I need another lid switch or was that actually the problem in the first place? The only problem appears to be that the lid is not clicking the lid switch. Is it not sitting down far enough to engage or what? Thanks.

Model No. GST9679PW1 It is such a simple piece I can't believe it could be installed improperly. It looked like it just popped in and he was done. The tech then tested it and it appeared to start the washer up and be fixed. Is there something that could affect it after one wash? Thank you.

Open the control panel and check the wire harness plug into the lid switch.

Check the switch for continuity. It should be closed with the lid closed.

Check the wires.

Gene.
