how to remove transmission to install new belt. all bolts revoved and when pulling off acts like the shaft is attached to a spring and only comes out approx 1". What next?:confused:

What next?:confused: A model number would be helpful. If this is a belt drive Whirlpool, please do not remove the transmission. It doesn't have to come off and you don't have to remove all the bolts to remove the belt. Get back to me with the Model no. and I'll try to walk you through changing the belt the "easy" way. :)

model # LHA580 is whirlepool with broken drive belt. I have 3boltsoff and the trans/pump pulls down about 1 inch but feels pressure to slide back on. now what?:rolleyes: Phil
