whirlpool washer will not spin

Hello
My washer will not spin but when I tap on the clutch it will work untill I stop it then its dead to the world , I can tap it again gently and it slowly takes off spinning with no noises , Is this simply needing a new clutch ?
and is there any special tool needed before I start this repair ?
any help is appreciated.

also if I spin the clutch by hand it will work untill its stopped .
