I am replacing the mounting stem and boot seal. Everything has gone well up until I am directed to "Stomp" in the new seal. Are there any "stomping" hints to be shared? I am concerned about damaging the new seal. Thank you

I am concerned about damaging the new seal. Thank you I've replaced quite a few of the mounting stem repair kits and I've never "stomped" one in yet. I usually clean up the metal under the old seal and wipe it down so its really clean. Then I wet the rubber bottom of the seal with a little water and press it on with my hand and a couple of paper towels over the upper part of the seal. Then I check to make sure its pushed all the way down evenly, all the way around. Then just install the upper part and set the set screw. Now if you are replacing the tub bearing kit, those can take quite a bit of pressure to get into place. I still push them in by hand most of the time, by using a small block of wood under the bearing rubber part and pushing down on the tub. Good luck.

Thank you. I am also replacing the tub bearing kit. The seal in question is where the mounting penetrate the outer tub. There is a coil sping inside the seal. It seems impossibly large to fit in the tub. I'll try your suggestion this evening. Thanks for your help.
