Default washer won't fill
Model Number: 110.82673110   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

Washer won't fill with cold water. Hot is fine. If you switch the hoses just the opposite is true. My question is " Should I replace the water inlet valve and if so, can I use a universal one?" Thanks in advance

First I would take the hose off the valve and inspect the screen on the valve, and the screens on the hose if any for a clog.

I did that already and water to machine was fine. I suspect either the valve is defective or there is no power to one side. I'm just not sure where to go from here
