Interesting question, cannot say I have ever run into this.
I assume this is an American model. Can you tell us how she adapted it for European current? Therein may lie the problem.

Well I am going to be of limited help here, heck, I barely understand these Maytags with U. S. configuration. I have not been involved with appliance repair in Italy, but since their food is so good I am certainly willing to tolerate a little bit of problems in other areas but not clothes soaking wet out of the washer at the end.
When you say water is coming in on the spin cycle I assume you mean more than just a small spray that sometimes come during spin to wash away any residual suds, and that the clothes are coming out wet. Since the water valves open on current that goes through the timer, I would suggest she contact the store that sold the machine and see if they will send her a new timer. You can also talk to the parts department here at APP (we are volunteers who are not connected with the operations of APP) and see what they say about compatibility of parts with a Euro type model. If all else fails she might try turning off the water and setting the timer to final spin and see if that at least gets clothes out of the machine dry to spec. Yeah I know, a lot of trouble but a last resort if nothing else can fix the problem and she needs to use the machine. Good luck, let us know how this turns out.
