i have a Maytag washer LAT2916AAE i notice that when the water loads it seams to be leaking from the base of the tub i was wondering what will fix this problem the washer is in great shape still hate to dump it if i can fix it!!!

When the leak occurs, is it only when the tub is filling with water, or is it during the whole cycle ?

It may be as simple as a damaged water flume or hose, or tub leaning too far forward and water is missing the tub.

You may want to remove the front panel and observe the location and time of the leak and respond with what you observe, for a more accurate assistance.

** If you remove the front panel, be careful not to reach into the cabinet, there are several electrical and mechanical moving parts and you could get hurt.**

thanks for the reply i check what you said and the water is going into the tub and the tub is not leaning forward it seam like its coming from the base of the tub!

Do you mean the water is leaking from the bottom center of the tub assembly ?

And if thats the case, it must also be leaking during the whole cycle , not just when the water is comming into the tub?

Or does it leak when the water is coming into the tub only?

yes the center bottom , it starts to leak at about 1/4 or less full then leaks constantly untill the wash is finished

Sounds like the tub seal is leaking. If it is leaking right where the transmission enters the tub the tub seal is leaking.

Yes Applianceman is correct, You have a leaking tub seal.
(and the sight he attached is pretty concise and accurate)

I reccomend you replace both the tub seal and tub bearing kits when doing this repair(as the service sight implies).

You may want to consider the roller bearing in the brake package, for more years of service, on occasion(not always) the leaking seal allows water to wash the lubricant out of the bearing and it makes a loud growling noise.(eventually)

Also remember to spin the tub for 5 minutes as the last step of the repair, before you water test the tub seal.
