You do not provide enough info. You could have a bad lid switch, or a bad timer, or just something stuck in the tub, or a bad tranny. If the motor runs in spin and the belt burns, you either have a bad tranny, or something stuck in the tub.

What I can not understand, when you put clothes in and close the lid the water pumps in and the wash cycle begins, when complete it stops and pumps the water out and that is it. It does nothing more, not even a noise. robertegammons@bellsouth.net

You have a separate water pump, not driven by the motor. Best to remove the front panel and turn the tranny pulley in the spin direction, opposite from agitate. If it will not turn in the spin direction and nothing in the tub blocking it, you have a bad tranny. However, the fact that the motor will not get power leads me in the direction of a bad lid switch.

O.K. I will check it out when I arrive in Honduras, Monday, and report back to you when I return, Aug. 12 robertegammons@bellsouth.net
