Default bearing for Duet
Model Number: GHW9100LW1   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

My duet front load washer chewed up the front outer drum. I replaced it and found that there must be a bearing out in the outer rear drum. Can the bearing be replaced or do I have to buy a complete outer drum? I have not taken it out yet to see how bad it looks. I did not see a bearing on the parts list but noted that it is included in the outer rear drum.

I have the same problem with the rear tub bearing. Were you able to purchase just the bearing?

The bearing is attached to the rear outer drum part #AP3773841
I would also suggest getting some clamps #AP3919286. Always a good idea to have a few of these just in case when separating the outer tubs.

I have seperated the outer tub and removed both bearings in the rear tub but I cannot read the part #'s on the bearing. Can anyone tell me just the bearing part numbers so that I can try to locate them.

You can't get just the bearings, it's the complete assembly.

Default Bearings for fixitdad

First, I believe the duet has a 10 year warranty on the outer tub that contains the bearings. If your washer is under 10 years contact whirlpool and ask them to send you the rear outer tub.

If it is more than 10 years old, I would take the bearings to a repair shop that could measure and match for you. I use a farm equipment dealer/repair that also does mower repair. These are just sealed bearings and are nothing special. As long as all of the measurements match, the new parts will fit. My guess is $8-$15 each depending on the markup at your shop.

My problem turned out to be the bracket that holds the shaft to the basket. It is part of the basket assembly.

If Whirlpool customer service tells you that the warranty is void because you took the machine apart, ask for a manager and explain that the part is under warranty and they will send you the part. I would avoid the hassle of getting a service person to come out and just get the part from Whirlpool and install myself.

Good Luck!

I called Whrilpool and the outer tub is not covered but the stainless tub is for 10 yrs. They were not very willing to help me out with my problem. I asked if they have had problems with the rear bearing going bad and they said no they haven't. I did however locate some new bearings. I going to try and finish up today.

Default Outer tub

The outer tub is an assembly. It is covered for 10 years. See attached link.

It is up to you to contact Whirlpool. Or just replace the bearings. Good luck and have fun!

Default Another question

Can the rear bearing be pulled without removing the tub from the washer?
Does anyone have a part number for the bearing itself? (I know it's not a separate part from the rear tub from Whirlpool)

Thanks for the help!

Did you ever install replacement bearings in the outer tub? If so, where did you locate the seal?
