Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

just curious if anyone found a source for Duet Sport rear bearings? I need to replace mine and would rather not have to buy the entire half a tub for $200. I read that you could probably bring the old bearing to a appliance parts store and they can match it up, has anyone had any success with that?

According to a search I did on google, the bearings for the Duet Model GHW9400 are made by NTN and are: rear - 6206LLBC3/5K & front -
6307LLBC3/L627. I have not been able to find a part number for the seal.

I don't know if the Duet Sport you mention would use the same bearing kit.

There is a fellow named Jeff Hartman who is advertising that he supplies a bearing kit (bearings plus seal) for Duet FL washers. see "duetbearing.com",WHIRLPOOL DUET BEARING AND SEAL KIT[. I have not been able to find any user feedback on his kits for the Duet or equivalent Elite washers. Maybe he can point you to some.

Did you have any luck finding the seal kit? I haven't taken my Duet HT apart yet but mine is just starting to have problems. Pretty sure the basket is still in good shape and that the bearings are just starting to wear out. I read in several places that the bearing are molded into the rear tub. Have you already completed this repair and how hard was it? I am not worried about taking the unit apart, just about how difficult it will be to switch out the bearings in the outer tub.

It turned out my bearing and seal were fine, but the spider was totally destroyed. All 3 arms corroded thru and broken off at the hub. The Duet bearing and seal kit advertised does not have a removal tool available like the Neptune and costs about $80. A new rear outer tub costs about $200. Jeff Hartman would not confirm that his seal was the same as the original seal. It may be as good or better, but I could not get any further info. Anyhow, I did not need it and was not looking forward to replacing the bearings without the right tools. If you learn more, please let me know for future anticipated problems.

Did you ever complete your replacement of the bearing/seal?

Default Whirlpool Duet Sport Bearings and 8540091 or 8540347 Seal

The Whirlpool Duet Sport bearings and 8540091 Seal are at Duet Bearing.

The replacement 8540091 seal works on the following Duet Sport models:

CHW9900VQ0
MWFW8300SW01
MWFW8300SW02
WFW8200TW00
WFW8200TW01
WFW8300SW02
WFW8300SW03
WFW8300SW04

The good news is that the support bracket is called out separate on the Duet Sport exploded views! This means that the support bracket can be replaced without replacing the stainless steel tub as in the other Duet/Elite front load washers where the SS tub/bracket support are one expensive part.

In most cases you don't have to replace the support bracket but it is good to know in case it does get damaged when the bearings fail.

In addition, the 8400 and 8500 Duet Sport models use the larger 8540347 Seal which will be available in December, 2011 at the same Duet bearing and seal site mentioned above.

I hope this helps...
