Neptune top load washer m#: FAV6800AWW

The lock latch on the right side won't unlatch. I have to pull on it real hard to get the washer to open. The left side appears to be functioning fine.

Thanks for you help

Sherry,

First thing to check is the interior lid liner, where you add the detergent softner, bleach. Make sure the liner has not been knocked out of place, twisted or bent.

Check the lid for being bent or twisted from articles being set on the lid or things being dropped, also check the lid hinges for being loose or warn.

Should all those checks be proper or satisfactory, you will need to check the wires at the right side lid lock assembly, for loose connections and replace the latch assembly if wires are ok.

You will need to remove the front panel from the cabinet to access the wires and latch assemly.

I have attached a part number and picture of the part.
Part number: AP4035314

Excellent checks as listed above. The Lid locks are momentarily pulsed with 120VAC by the Control Board to close and open. If there is the slightest misalignment with the lid that could cause an issue with the lid lock releasing or locking function.

You need to release the Washer Top Cover with a putty knife as seen in the Service Manual on page 33, you do not need to remove the front cover.

The Right hand Lid Lock is not required for the machine to operate as designed. I would remove it and tape up the Cable Plug End with electrical tape and tuck the plug end up out of the way to prevent any wire chaffing, or replace the Right Lid Lock as described.

The Service Manual on page FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual on page 34 shows a Tech removing the Left Hand Lid Lock. You remove the right lid lock the same way.

You can go into Service Mode and thru Console commands toggle the lid locks to open and close for troubleshooting. You may have some corrosion issues at the plug and socket end.

Have you ever had any issues with the Left Lid Lock causing OP, OD, FL type error codes?

The Left Hand Lid Lock is usually the first Lid Lock to cause issues with its location to the Bleach Dispenser.

If you need help with anything shout out.
