Default Frigidaire Affinity error code 68
Model Number: ATF7000FS0   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 1 - 5 years

Affinity washer getting error code 68. According to service manual related to heating. Replaced element - no luck.

Live in the caribbean - have had locals look at it but can't figure out what is going on.

Thinking of trying new heater control (part #134558200). Does this seem reasonable?

Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check the resistance between the ground and both heater terminals. It should be open when the heater terminals are disconnected.

Hopefully this will help someone:

Frigidaire Affinity : ATF7000ES0
Washer would start (door lock, a bit of water), then stop. Sometimes it would work until the spin cycle then stop. Every once in a while it would start and finish (1 out of 10 attempts)
Error Code : E68
Replaced heater element : no luck
Cleaned the pump trap : no luck

Opened the top and found the heater control board front right (I think) laying on top of the drum. The plastic hooks had broken off leaving it dangling.
Secured the control board and no more errors, machine is working. I'm guessing that it was bouncing around near a large screw in the drum which may have caused the grounding error?

BTW: I ordered the heater element from this site and received it in 22 hours from submitting the order. What a great experience. Thanks.

Thumbs up Error Code 68 for Frigidaire LTF7000ESO Washer

Thank you (the0jerk) very much for your solution to (our) my problem. Just like you said, I opened the top and also found the heater control board (part#AP3886932) laying and bouncing on top of the drum when washer is on. I used a plastic tie down and secured the heater control board to the wall of the washer and unplugged the washer for 15 seconds to clear error code(s); replugged washer and now ... problem solved. Washer runs like a charm. Now, if I need any washer parts like a heater control board or a Drain Pump/motor assembly I shall order from Appliance Parts Pros.com Discount Appliance Parts – Appliance Repair Parts. Once again thank you the0jerk and also Appliance Parts Pros.com Discount Appliance Parts – Appliance Repair Parts

Thumbs up Thanks and Request for More Help

I was receiving the same E68 error message with the same described symptoms and sure enough there was a loose control board. I secured that, but I now receive E66 which seems to be an issue with the heating element relay. Is this the relay that is on that control board on the top right? Can this part be ordered from this website?

Thanks!
Brian

Brian,

Before you replace the heater control board (#60 on the diagram) you may want to check the heating element resistance (normal reading about 14 Ohms) and check for continuity between each of the heating element terminals and the ground.

- The heating control Part number: AP3886932

Part number: AP3886932

- The heating element Part number: AP3886931

Part number: AP3886931

Thanks Gene!

I will check that out. I assume there should not be continuity between the element terminals and ground?

I was able to check the resistance on the heating element and it was around 14 ohms. No connectivity between the terminals and ground, so I assume nothing is shorted out. Are there any other checks I can do on the control board?

Also, is there a way to just bypass or turn off the water heating aspect. We don't really use it that much, and that might get us through while we wait on the part.

Thanks!
Brian

Brian,

Try to set the water temperature on cold/cold (no auto temp).

Gene,

Thanks for the suggestion, but it gets the error even on just the spin cycle. The door locks, I hear a couple of solenoid clicks and it may or may not start engage the motor and then it stops before it starts to spin.
