Model Number: ATF7000FS0 Brand: Frigidaire Age: 1 - 5 years
Affinity washer getting error code 68. According to service manual related to heating. Replaced element - no luck.
Live in the caribbean - have had locals look at it but can't figure out what is going on. Thinking of trying new heater control (part #134558200). Does this seem reasonable? Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Ads By Google Related Models |

Check the resistance between the ground and both heater terminals. It should be open when the heater terminals are disconnected. Gene.

Hopefully this will help someone:
Frigidaire Affinity : ATF7000ES0 Washer would start (door lock, a bit of water), then stop. Sometimes it would work until the spin cycle then stop. Every once in a while it would start and finish (1 out of 10 attempts) Error Code : E68 Replaced heater element : no luck Cleaned the pump trap : no luck Opened the top and found the heater control board front right (I think) laying on top of the drum. The plastic hooks had broken off leaving it dangling. Secured the control board and no more errors, machine is working. I'm guessing that it was bouncing around near a large screw in the drum which may have caused the grounding error? BTW: I ordered the heater element from this site and received it in 22 hours from submitting the order. What a great experience. Thanks. Last edited by the0jerk : 08-05-2010 at 07:59 PM. |

I was receiving the same E68 error message with the same described symptoms and sure enough there was a loose control board. I secured that, but I now receive E66 which seems to be an issue with the heating element relay. Is this the relay that is on that control board on the top right? Can this part be ordered from this website?
Thanks! Brian Quote:

Brian,
Before you replace the heater control board (#60 on the diagram) you may want to check the heating element resistance (normal reading about 14 Ohms) and check for continuity between each of the heating element terminals and the ground. - The heating control Part number: AP3886932 - The heating element Part number: AP3886931 Gene.

Thanks Gene!
I will check that out. I assume there should not be continuity between the element terminals and ground? Quote:

I was able to check the resistance on the heating element and it was around 14 ohms. No connectivity between the terminals and ground, so I assume nothing is shorted out. Are there any other checks I can do on the control board?
Also, is there a way to just bypass or turn off the water heating aspect. We don't really use it that much, and that might get us through while we wait on the part. Thanks! Brian |

Try to set the water temperature on cold/cold (no auto temp). Gene.

Gene,
Thanks for the suggestion, but it gets the error even on just the spin cycle. The door locks, I hear a couple of solenoid clicks and it may or may not start engage the motor and then it stops before it starts to spin. Brian |
