Take the front cover off, put it in spin and turn the tranny clockwise or counter clockwise. If easy to turn, you have a bad clutch in the tranny, if jammed, go to www.applianceaid.com for tranny thrust bearing adjustment. An alternate test, unplug washer, turn tranny pulley in spin direction and reach inside the spin basket. If it turn easily, you need a new tranny, bad clutch. If very hard to turn, the brake is not releasing. You will need the pulley thrust bearing kit.

Hi , The pulley spin with little resistance but the busket is very hard to spin. Would that be the trust bearing? If it is do i have to take apart the whole basket assembly? Do i need any special tools? Thanks for your help.
