Problem: washer (Whirlpool, 110.28822791) fills and completes wash cycle. Then it won't drain, no motor humming heard and machine won't enter the spin cycle. I have replaced the timer/motor unit, removed basket to look for obstructions and tub. My guess is that the problem may be the drive motor, gearcase or water pump. Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Through research efforts and suggestions from others at another web site, the problem was resolved. It was the lid switch. The places where the screws hold the switch to the top panel had either broken off or cracked. The owner's manual mentioned how the switch could be shorted in order to conduct troubleshooting measures. I shorted the gray and purple wires with a piece of extra wire and wrapped the wires and plug with electrical tape to secure the short connections. Now I can operate the washer while waiting for a replacement switch to arrive.
