I have a Maytag Neptune MAH400AWW washer which sounds like a jet engine when in the spin cycle, what problem does that indicate? and what can i do about it? Parts?

Sounds like the rear bearing has gone bad. It comes as a part of the outer tub assembly. This is not a very simple job and it can take about 2 hours. - The outer tub assembly Part number: AP4028180

Instead of replacing your expensive outer tub... You can replace the bearings and seal... See Neptune Bearing for information. You can also rent the special Neptune bearing tool kit to help you save time replacing your bearings. Don't forget if your Neptune front load washer has a timer knob you need to replace the faulty 12002535 door latch wax motor before it damages your machine control board. See Neptune Help for info. Also, the MAH3000's with serial numbers starting with 10 thru 25 have 2 more faulty wax motors in the soap dispenser and you should proactively change these if they are the original ones. When they short they will cause the circuit breaker that feeds the machine to trip.
