My GE washer will wash and drain just fine, but doesnt spin all the time. If I run the cycle on the large setting it will spin about 75 percent of the time. Then when I run it on small it will spin about 25 percent of the time. Sometimes I will empty the wet clothes out of the washer and set it to spin, then I open the lid really fast and throw wet clothes in a few at a time slamming the lid back shut so it will keep spinning. I know this is not smart, but hey...it works.

Right when it goes into the Spin cycle it makes a funny sound like something is knocking together. It also sounds like it is strubblin to get started.

I read some ot the other similar GE Spinn related discussions and I tried all of your advice. I pulled the washer apart and made sure the belts were not warn and I also took the lid off and checked for anything lodged inbetween the basket and the tub. Nothing......Im at a loss.

It sounds like the Transimission, but I want to make sure before I buy a new washer. The transmission sounds like a big job so i will most likely just bite the bullet and buy a new one.
