My clothes washer - front loader about 3 years old - won't spin. It drains but no spin. I took the back off and the belt is ok but the motor does not turn during the cycle. The drum is loose and can be spun by hand without a problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Bob

A couple of areas you need to check out. The door lock asssembly is one, the wiring from the door lock assembly is another and the motor control board is still another possibility. Use this tech sheet to see if you can get some diagnosis out of the machine. http://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%208182208.pdf

I ran the diagnostic tests and none of the spin cycles would operate. All the other tests were ok. The washer is a Maytag MFW9700SQ1.
I suspect that it is the Motor Control Unit but cannot be sure. Are there other tests that can be run to confirm whether it is the MCU?
Thanks for the advice.

Hi Bob
About the only definitive way to test an electronic part is to replace it and see what happens.
If you buy the part from this site and it does not repair the machine you can return it, under certain pretty liberal conditions. See the returns policyt on this site or talk to APP when you order the part.

Good decision Boots, sometimes you just have to replace a machine and move on.
