Model Number: GX900QPPS2 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
My ram was stuck down and the motor continued to hum. I opened the bottom of the unit and saw that the large gear driving the chain had cracked in half. I replaced it, along with the smaller gear connected to the motor. The unit now makes alot more noise than it did before, but more importantly still does not rise when the ram is down. The small gear just continues to spin, making a buzz saw type noise. The gear replacement kit came with ram stops, but I cannot figure out how to open the unit to see if the original ram stops are damaged. Could this be the reversal switch has broken? Do I need to call a repairman at this point? Thanks!
