My under the counter GE Profile trash compactor will not shut off nor will the "smasher" raise back up. When I turn it on, the motor runs until I manually turn it off. It is in the down position now so I can't open the door.

Hello, the model # is ZCG3300VWW
We have tried to remove the kick plate and the panel at the top to access the screws to remove it from the cabinet but no luck. Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue, the chain has fallen off the sprocket. You will have to remove the access plate from the back of the unit then use a socket wrench on the sprocket nut to raise the ram. Then the door can be opened.

Use the same method to reattach the chain. My issue is the chain keeps coming off, new compactor, not even filled the first bag yet.
