When it switching from "down" to "up" - some clicking sound is normal.

Most likely it needs a maintenance and/or lubrication.

For more accurate advise I need the complete model number of the unit.

Remove the trash compactor from the cabinet.

Remove the drawer from the unit.

Remove one screw located under each corner of the control panel on the front of the unit.

Push the control panel upward and pull gently away to release two hooks from their slots on the unit frame.

Remove all screws holding the top cover and remove the top cover.

Lubricate the power nuts (#12 on the power screw & ram break down diagram) and the power screws (#1 on the power screw & ram break down diagram) using multipurpose lithium grease.

This is one of the best sites I haver been to. Gene, You have saved me from buying a new one. The Jennair Site was useless. Keep up the good work. People like you make this a better place to live in this great country.
