When trash compactor is running it will make a loud clanking or clicking sound. in both the up and down position.

When it switching from "down" to "up" - some clicking sound is normal.

Most likely it needs a maintenance and/or lubrication.

For more accurate advise I need the complete model number of the unit.

Remove the trash compactor from the cabinet.

Remove the drawer from the unit.

Remove one screw located under each corner of the control panel on the front of the unit.

Push the control panel upward and pull gently away to release two hooks from their slots on the unit frame.

Remove all screws holding the top cover and remove the top cover.

Lubricate the power nuts (#12 on the power screw & ram break down diagram) and the power screws (#1 on the power screw & ram break down diagram) using multipurpose lithium grease.
