Default Garbage Compactor

My Tappan garbage compactor will not stop it's cycle of compacting. Once started it will continuously loop through the cycle. The only way I have stopped it is to catch it when it is high enough to open the door and tape the on lever in the off position.
I assume there is a switch that is either broken or not being triggered when the compact head returns to the top... any suggestions?

There is a limit switch inside the compactor. Post the right model number and I'll get you the diagrams and parts list (93072371A is not a model number). Tappan model number should be something like 57-0000-00/00 or TC465DBH0.

There is a limit switch located behind the control face panel. If the lid of the compactor is removable, then this switch is visable from the top. Sometimes the arm of this switch gets bent or the switch becomes lose so that that drum of the compactor does not hit the switch properly, causing your problem. I hope this helps
