My compactor worked well for a while. But now, it has a couple of problems. Sometimes I will turn the switch to ON, raise the foot pedal to start the cycle, and things seem to go according to plan. But then, when the ram gets to the bottom, everything stops. If I lift the foot pedal again, it will complete the cycle. I could live with that if it were the only problem. Now however, the thing has become truly annoying. When the ram gets to the top and the cycle should stop, it begins to bang. It sounds like a machine gun is going off in my kitchen. I can step on the foot pedal and open the door to make it stop. So now, I have to stand there with the pedal raised throughout the cycle to make sure it actually compresses everything properly, and I have to wait for the shooting to start so I can stomp the pedal and regain peace. I need to get this fixed before my son gets back from Afghanistan. I'm not going to throw him into a PTSD fit because of some appliance.
