Hi, my Kitchen Aid used to compact by lifting up once on the toe kick (step down to open) now it no longer works unless I hold the toe kick up while the plunger compacts and retracts. Everything else is working and I can not see what needs to be done to fix it. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
RWB

Most likely the problem is a bad motor centrifugal switch.

- The part number for the motor switch is AP3117747

It comes with the installation instructions.

Here are the tech sheets for the Kitchen Aid trash compactor model KUCS03FTSS.

Gene.
