The freezer makes a whistling noise. It seems more prominent when the ice tray is full. Someone told me the control board was bad causing the fan to speed up and slow down. I wanted to see if anyone else has another solution or is the correct.

Did you ever find out what the problem was??? I have the same problem. The compressor isn't running but the fan in the freezer run. Going from fast then slow then fast then slow..... It will do that for 5 hours or so.. I read a form that was posted stating that it does that to keep the frost from forming.. Just woundering if you fix your problem and what you did to it????

I purchased a new control board and am waiting for it to arrive. I hope this will take care of the problem. The board cost $100. I will update this post again soon as I replace the board and find out!!

I had the same issue. I pulled out the ice tray in the freezer and broke up large chunks of ice that were stuck together and removed a few as well. The whistling stopped immediately. This was just recently, so hopefully that's all it was. If so, it was a quick, cheap, easy fix to a very annoying problem. Hope it works for the rest of you!
