Very good info. One more question. I was not using the ice maker (not hooked up to water supply) so I unplugged the connector and loosened the 2 screws so it could be removed from the freezer area. I put a plastic cover securely over the remaining connector in the freezer. Is this ok or does it disrupt a circuit?
Thanks,
T C

Default slight problem

When I try to test the evaporator fan for continuity I see there are three wires in the plug. Do I put the probes on the two white leads? One white and the green? The other white and the green? I'm thinking that the green is ground so I should check continuity between the two white leads? Not sure.

On the fan Yes I would say it is the 2 whites. Easy to check this if the wires go int the motor's coil then those are the ones you want. You will probably see that the green is just attached to the fans body. It is a good idea to also check the whites to the ground just in case the motor coil is shorted to ground.

I do not think that the ice maker plur is a through plug for any thing else. The wiring diagram in the parts seems to confirm this. Just be sure it cannot short to anything.

Thanks for your help. It looks like all the items I tested are good, which is bad for me. My freezer and other section are not getting cold enough. It looks like it might be freon loss. Compressor is working. Can't find anything else that is wrong. Any other ideas before I give up and buy a new unit?
Thanks again,
T C

Remover the evaporator cover in the freezer and check the coils.

If they are patchy or just have freon in one area usually where the freon enters the coils then odds are that you are low on freon.

When you said look at the coils, did you mean "frost in one area" instead of "freon in one area"? Yes, there was frost on the right side on the copper tubing.
