Model Number: EAT171NKYR5 Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
The compressor relay burned out (I say that because I could smell burnt plastic and the relay kept trying to click the compressor on but couldn't and when I removed the relay it had the same smell) I need to know if something caused it to fail or if it just failed because of the age. I know there is an overload preventer which I will purchase along with a new relay if this will solve the problem. Basically I need to know if there is anything else that could have caused the compressor relay to fail.
