Model Number: G2IXEFMWQ Brand: Whirlpool Age: Less than 1 year
Our new (five months) Whirlpool fridge has an icemaker inside the freezer. It has worked fine for the first few months, but now (weather is warming up?) it will create a batch of cubes, and then the wire shutoff arm won't return to the down position. When pushed back down, it feels as if it may simply need some lubrication at the pivot points. Once pushed down, it immediately goes about making the next batch of cubes, which it will do, then eject them, and stay stuck "off" again. I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks

Hi Lou,
If the shut off arm on your ice maker looks like on the picture bellow then replace it with the shut off arm AP3902924 Whirlpool Service pointer. Gene. P.S. The picture of the new shut off arm shows the old one. Don't worry about it.

Gene,
Thanks for this suggestion. I read the service pointer you included and wonder if this applies to us. This problem is happening even if the ice bin is relatively empty and there is no ice for the shut-off arm to contact. Would this solution still apply even in this case? It does seem, however, as if the explanation of it "snapping up into the off position" makes sense. Lou |

Lou,
The model number you posted does not come up. Very likely because the model is very new and Whirlpool did not publish it yet. I would recommend to call Whirlpool for the warranty service. Gene.
