Model Number: GSH25KGMBWW Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a GE side by side 21 cu ft refrigerator and the ice maker works but I can not get water from the door. I have taken the water valve off and tried to clean the filter but could not locate it on the water valve. I also by passed the water filter inside the refrigerator and still no water. I have turned down the temperature on the refrigerator side to 3 and still nothing. Has anyone else had this problem. Would appreciate any assistance in fixing the problem.

Disconnect the water line connector (#80 on the break down diagram) and check for water coming out under pressure while the dispenser calls for drinking water.
Post the results. Gene.

Check if the water tank in the fresh food compartment (behind the crisper) is not frozen.
Check if 120VAC is coming to the water valve solenoid while the dispenser calls for drinking water. Gene.

Gene,
I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you, it looks like the tank behind the fresh food compartment is frozen, any suggestion on how to un-thaw the tank? You have beed a great help and I learned alot about refrigerator trouble shooting!! |

You can try to use a hair dryer, but be careful not to melt the tank and/or plastic tubes. Check the temperature in the refrigerator.

I thought that is was frozen, but I guess it was'nt. I can see water in the top line of the tank I just don't think there is any pressure pushing it to the tank. I tried switching the water line off the water value but they are two different sizes. Also tried switching the wire plug in to the water value but you can't do that either (different types) I'm thinking it might me the water valve. I don't have any way of testing the volts on the valve. Thanks again for all your help (you are great for trying to help)
