Default Condenser fan motor not working
Model Number: PDS20SFBRSS   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Hello, I have a GE fridge and the CFM took a dump, it's either the motor or the board. When I checked for voltage through the molex (3 pin) I wasn't getting anything, then from each pin to the back of the cabinet I was reading 42 volts.. What voltage does this fan motor run on and what kind of resistance should I be reading from the motor?

This fridge has no schematic and is only 2 yrs old, when I try calling GE for tech support I can't seem to get through. This is my fridge, so I'm not too happy with GE right about now.

Also, can somebody tell me which terminal block the condenser fan motor goes to on the board?

Thanks

Put a fan on the back of fridg. to cool the coils. Looks like this is a 12 volt, dc permanent magnet motor, voltage should be shown on the housing.
Lots of times the motor will go bad and damage the pc board in the fridg.
You will need to go to a web site to get the info you need to order the motor and pc board. I see the motor is available for $125 and pc board for probably the same price.
Please post results, am unfamiliar with this fridg.
New info, control board in the fridg section part # WR55X10552 $126 condensing fan WR84X10552
$126

You should be reading about 12-14vdc at the plug to the fan motor, if you have more or less voltage supplying the fan motor, your board is bad.

Well I found the schematic, it was hidden under the fridge behind the grill...really good!

Looks like it's a 12v DC motor...time to troubleshoot.

I have 13.4 vdc coming from the plug going to the motor.

Yeah, this happened last night, and luckily I had a small fan to place behind it...brought the temp back down to normal.
