Model Number: et18nk Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
Water source and pressure are good. Unit is level. Ice maker will make ice and eject it if I manually fill it. When the ice maker cycles little or no water goes into tray. The water seems to immediately go down the drain tube to the drip pan located on top of the compressor. If we leave the ice maker on it will eventually fill and overflow the drip pan.

Hi John,
Check the ice maker plastic water line from the water valve. Looks like it's broken. Gene.

Ok, I fixed it….
Here was what I found The filler tube on this model is a two part affair. A plastic tube receives the water line and passes through the back of the fridge into an aluminum tube extension that lines up with the ice tray filler cup. This extension had somehow come off and fallen behind the back panel of the freezer. The result was that the water was delivered short of the filler cup. It was simply spraying behind the back panel of the freezer compartment and draining down into the drip pan. It was a simple enough fix. It required the removal of the ice maker, the shelf, and the back panel of the freezer. This enabled me to retrieve the tube extension and reassemble the filler tube. The rest was simply putting it all back together. John O. |
