I found an unusual condition with the refrigerator section of my side by side. The refrigerator side suddenly started getting warm, warm enough to melt the butter. I checked on the forums and could not find a solution that seemed to make sense. So today I replaced the light bulb as the previous one had burned out very quickly (3-4 months). While the bulb was burned out, the refrigerator side stayed fairly cool. When I put the new bulb in, I noticed the refrigerator side getting warm. So I checked the closing of the door and noticed that the refrigerator door was so low that the light switch was not being pushed in when the door closed.
Closer inspection of the door found that the cam on the bottom door hinge was broken along the circumfrence of the cam. This allowed the door to drop by about 1/2 inches. I have ordered a replacement cam.
Now I also have another problem and I want to know if they are related or not. The freezer section is not defrosting. This was not a problem before the heating issue began. Could this somehow be tied to the electronics tied to the switch in the refrigerator or is the defrost heater?
