This is a side by side Admiral. It suddenly quit cooling. The evaporator fan works. There is a click by the compressor, then a hum, then nothing. Someone said I need a capacitor, someone else said no. Someone said I need a relay. Someone else said that I needed a "hard start".

Remove the rear cover. Remove the overload/relay (#4 on the diagram) from the compressor and shake it. If it makes a rattling sound, replace it.

If the new part would not solve the problem, then the compressor itself has gone bad.

Hello, I have a Admiral ASD2120DRW and I just had the overload/relay go bad (thing was rattling), so I replaced it. That was about 4 hours ago, and now the fridge side isn't getting cold. The freezer is freezing though.

4 hours is absolutely not enough for the fridge to cool down to the correct temperature. If it was completely defrosted then it needs about 24 hours.

I was kinda thinking the same thing, but since the freezer side got so cold so fast, I figured maybe something else burned out when the overload/relay burned up on Friday.
