You're welcome Gene. It sure is a pleasure to have met a fellow tech online. I spent 28 years troubleshooting aircraft avionics systems on the big jets and the A.F. I love troubleshooting. I do it now on Vettes. I restored one and help others with theirs.

You do not know how much of an asset you really are to people by doing this on this forum Gene. I have saved myself a lot of money and time. All I did was google my fridge's model number and bingo, I found this site.

Appliances can be very tough to troubleshoot without the proper information. All I needed was the voltage and on what plug and when I should get it. That helped a lot. I wish it was like the old days when virtually everything had schematics on the back of things, remember that? LOL

I am having the same issue with the water dispenser. Please pardon my ignorance, but how can water come out of the dispenser if I disconnect the water line under the door hinge? (especially if the lines are frozen)

Paul, I may have the exact problem with my GE side by side. Was it difficult replacing the water valve assembly (I am guessing that is what you replaced right?) Any thing you can share that will help make my job easier, is much appreciated.

Hi I'm new to the forum I have a GE GSL25JFTA BS side b side with very low water flow at the door I removed the coupling at door on fridge side I still very low water flow there is a surge of water (quick splash) then very low flow. Also the ice maker is making very small ice cubes which I believe is due to the low amount of flow. Is it possible that the water reservoir is frozen? Or maybe the pump is not flowing as it should

Just checked my reservoir not frozen found the air bubbles in the line moved when I operated the water

Pete,

You have to dispense 2-3 gallons of water to get rid of air in the system. Make sure the water pressure in the water line to the refrigerator is good.

I'm really glad to find this site and people having the same problem. For my GE GSL25JFPA BS side-by-side, the ice / water dispenser doesn't work either.

Board seems functional, as corresponding light comes on when switching between Water, Crushed Ice and Ice Cubes.

My problem is the "water dispenser lever" fell off the housing to which it's attached. This lever has an upper portion that is shaped like a funnel with a big circular opening.

My questions:

1. Took the whole front of the dispensing unit apart, but can't figure out how to re-attach this "water dispenser lever". There is a metal spring that came loose, but don't know where it goes.

2. With this lever removed, I can see / reach the flapper and solenoid valve from the outside. Is there I way I can manually trigger / activate the water dispenser to check for water flow?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
