The ice maker on our side by side took a dump the other night. I opened the freezer to find the tray full of ice and ice all over the bottom of the icemaker unit as well (looked like it over filled and spilled onto the small ledge directly under the icemaker). I removed the icemaker and ran the entire unit under water from the sink. Melted all the ice (cube trays and the bottom as well)
I dried the unit, so I though, reinstalled it with the icemaker switch in the off position. Turned the switch on the unit back on and heard a small 'poof'. The ice dispenser auger and ice maker were dead. I turned off the fridge via the power switch and unplugged the fridge. I plugged it back in and the auger workes fine, but the icemaker is DEAD!
Is there a fuse for the icemaker itself? Should I simply replace the icemaker itself or is there a hidden fuse for the icemaker unit?
I hate to throw away $65.00 for a new icemaker if that isn't the problem.
HELP!! Thanks, in advance, for all the help!
