Model Number: GSH22KGMAAA Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
All,
I have a GE side by side that started making a rumbling noise in the back fan area. I removed the food and found a light coating of ice at the top and on the back. Cleared the ice and the fan exhaust area and use a blow dryer to make sure the area was clear of ice and the noise stopped. The unit does'nt seem to be doing it's pre cool though and the ice maker isn't making. Any ideas on where to start to resolve this woul;d be greatly appreciated. Mike |

Hi Mike,
Remove the rear panel in the freezer and check how the evaporator coil covered in frost. Remove the rear refrigerator cover and clean the condenser coil (#730 on the break down diagram). Here are the break down diagrams for the GE refrigerator Model GSH22KGMAAA Gene.

Gene,
Thanks for getting back to me. I clean around and under this unit every six months but I double checked. I then returned to the evaporator and found a LOT of frost on the back panel, I removed all the food and then open the cover to find the evap solid in ice. At this point I can only suspect the defrost heater or the fact that my grand kids left the door partially open all day. I deiced it and cleaned everything up. If it needs the heater I'll let GE do it as it's a little small in there for me to work. Thanks for the help and info it really is appreciated. Mike |
