Default Refrigerator door will not close automatically
Model Number: KBRS22KKBL00   Brand: Kitchen Aid   Age: 5 - 10 years

Until recently, the door on my Kitchen Aid refrigerator closed tightly as soon as the door was released. Now, the door frequently stops about an inch short of the seal. Any idea why?

Hi Dave,

Which door are you talking about: freezer or freshfood compartment?

Gene.

Default Same Problem, but a GE

I have a n old GE refrigerator with a freezer door and refrig door. The refrig door does not seal unless I press with some pressure against the door, then it seals well. If I forget to press and just let the door swing with light pressure, it stays open about an inch. Think its a hinge problem, or does the door seal gasket need replacing. If it's the gasket, are they
hard to replace? Thanks a million to anyone who responds.

Gene,

I found a technical data sheet attached to the refrigerator and it has GE Model 203C2973P006 at the top. I believe this is the model. I looked for a stamped model plate on the unit, but have not found it. Where do they stamp the model on most refrigerators? Thanks a million for your response.

Bob

Bob,

The number you found is the part number for the data sheet. You can use the Model number locater to find the model number of your refrigerator.

Gene.
