It doesn't shut off everytime. You have to turn it around and make it click about 3 times before it will shut everything down.

When I opened up the back of my freezer their was frost further up, but not all the way to the top. It is the worst at the bottom and goes up from there.

Ok, so if I read this right worse means the bottom coils above the heater were completely covered, a solid chunk of ice, but the rest of the coils above the other heater seamed to be ok, there was frost on the coils but not a big ice chunk? Sorry if I'm not understanding you correctly.

The coils above the bottom heater were mostly solid ice. The coils above the other heater were very frosty. The coild at the top seemed to be what they should be.

Good, now I definatly believe your heaters or defrost termination thermistat are at fault. If you order that part I gave you the # to, you should be fine, it is a heater kit that includes the defrost thermostat already wired in. Since you manually defrosted the coils, put everything back together and post temps tomorrow, also you should be fine for about 7 days before you would have to defrost again, plenty of time to order the part and have it shipped.

My question is this...Is that white plug the heater thermostat?

Going in the right direction :) That white wire is just that, a wire. Your defrost thermostat is clipped onto the evap usually at the top and is a round device siver in color. Probably a blue and pink wire attached to it.
