Does my Side by side have a defrost timer or defrost thermostat??
Model Number: gss25jfpdww Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
i am having problems with my side by side freezing up and I am trying to check and see if it is maybe the timer, or the defrost heater? and if i have a timer, where is it located?/ thanks

your defrost control is contained within the main board on the back of the unit. If you want to perform your own refrigerator repair, i would first test your defrost heater, your defrost thermistor, and the safety thermostat first.

Defrost Thermostat
HELLO GO TO DIAGRAM # 3 FREEZER SECTION AND DEFROST THERMOSTAT IS PART #240 Defrost thermostat - Limits how warm the freezer section can get during the defrost cycle. ALSO TEMP SENSOR IS PART # 243 IN PICTURE DIAGRAM ( THEY ARE USUALLY LOCATED BEHIND PLASTIC IN FREEZER AGAINST BACKWALL ALONG TOP OR SIDE OF COILS U WILL SEE CLIP THAT HOLDS THEM IN ) ALSO IF DEFROST THERMO LOOKS BLOATED OR BUBBLED OUT USUALLY BAD
