freezer ok, fridge not cooling

The fridge side is not cooling. The diffuser is remaining shut. If I disconnect the diffuser and wait 5-10 minutes, the diffuser will open. When I reconnect the diffuser and check with a mirror, I can see the diffuser shutting. Are there any test that I can perform that will help isolate the problem.
