frigidair freezer compressor running hot

Model Number: mfu14f3gw5 Brand: Frigidaire Age: More than 10 years

the freezer door was mistakenly left open! I closed the door and with a full freezer it would not freeze. I cleaned the entire freezer and allowed to thaw. I have turned it back on and after two hours a cup of water froze. Is the compressor supposed to be hot when you touch it or is that normal?
