The compressor gets hot and the fan is running but you never hear the compressor click on, the freezer is just blowing warm air, what could be wrong?

If the compressor is hot then it is running or at least trying to run.
Odds are that is is running since if it is seized or one of the windings is toast it will usually overheat and trip the thermal protect.

Sounds like you may be low on freon or out of freon or have a blockage in the sealed system.
Remove he evaporator cover so you can see the coils if you only have frost in one area (usually where the freon enters the evaporator coil) or it is very splotchy then you are probably low on freon.
Note: there is no use adding freon till the leak location is found and repaired.

In any case any of the above three causes would require a qualified service tech and will not be cheap. Probably best to look at a new unit.
