We've been having to manually defrost our upright refrigerator-freezer every 10 days or so.
Today we took the covers off the evap section and sure enough, it's iced over again.
I manually initiated defrost via the slotted knob on the timer. After approx. 15 minutes the freezer restarted, which leads me to believe the timer, at least THAT function of the timer is OK.
I can't get at the defrost stat with my meter to see whether it's open or closed..
Here's my question: Are the initiation and termination setpoints about the same for these domestic appliances?
I gave the operator my model and serial number, but she was unable to locate either in her parts fische.
The thermostat itself is of course two wire (Klixon style as opposed to a thermistor) and has a clip which holds it onto a 5/16" line, just beyond where the cap tube enters the evaporator. At this point I'd like to at least replace this stat and it's lookin like it'll be a generic part....
Thanks for your comments.
