I posted previously that I had a GE side by side that would not defrost. I tested the thermostat with a DVM,it opened when warm so I assume it works-was ~200ohms when cold. I located the defrost control timer (AP2061695) Is there any way to test this device?

i am not an expert but i think if you put a flathesd screwdriver in timer and turn till compressor and fans turn off then it is supposed to be in defrost mode if heater turns on now i think your timer needs to be replaced if it does not turn on then problem lies within heater itself check for resistance with meter
