I have GE side by side and noticed the fridge was not cool. I took apart the freezer and noticed it was frozen solid. I found the thermostat, cut the wires loose from the defroster and put an ohm meter across the thermostat. I believe it initially showed 200 ohms - I held it until it warmed up. I heard it open as well as saw it open with my meter. My question is what if anything controlls the defroster besides the thermostat? I looked at the diagrams and found only part number AP2071464 (DEFROST HEATER W/ THERMOSTAT). Is there a controll circuit pcb or timer I am missing?

Thanks for any help!
