But how are the temperatures, too warm, too cold, just right? What are your control settings set at? what is the maximum setting?

the compressor run continously
It is a kenmore upright freezer its not to warm or too cold, seems to be just right. It has 5 setting I have it set on 1 and the compressor run continously, I turned it to off and the compressor shut off and I turned it to the lowest setting an about 10 min later the compressor came back on and just does not shut off.

the fact you have it turned down to 1 is not right. it should be at 3. secondly, since it only shuts off right when you shut it off, and not simply when you turn the control to a warmer setting, tells me that cold control is bad. I cant give you a part number because the model number you listed does not come up.
