Default Freezer OK but Fridge is warm
Model Number: MTB2191ARQ   Brand: Maytag   Age: 1 - 5 years

I just left my parents house and they informed me that their Maytag refrigerator, freezer needs repair and a repairman will be showing up on Friday.
I have a distrust for appliance repair men because I’ve been scammed.
The repair service that is scheduled to look at it is A & E. I did a Google search and read a few horror stories.
Here are the symptoms.
The unit started making a loud noise whenever the cooler system was on.
A day later the noise stopped.
Since then the refrigerator is warm but the freezer is working ok.
I believe it has only one motor.
I’m guessing it is some type of circulator, or fan that went.
The unit is a Maytag MTB2191ARQ.
It was purchased on 4-17-06.
Trying to proact…
Are they looking at a big job?
Or should they be on the lookout for a repairman trying to take advantage an elderly couple?
Thank you,
Eddie

The fridge works off the freezer.
The freezer most likely is NOT ok.
Either the defrost system of evap fan motor went out.

Thanks for your reply.
Update: The repairman opened the freezer and took the back off and saw that a small fan blade had fallen off. He said the spring in the blade had loosed and that caused the hole to get too big and the blade to fall off.
He ordered a new one and said to call him when it arrives. The bill is a little over $200.00. I believe he said that the part is $11.00 and the rest is labor.
Thanks again.
I hope the $200.00 + part (installed) solves the problem.
