I couldn't hurt to test your compressor before replacing the board again. A simple resistance test should tell you if the compressor is good. Although, it isn't unheard of for the board to be bad right out of the box.

the fans came on when i plugged in the new board and sounded like the compressor kicked in, so the board was not bad out of the box. how do you do a resistance test??? is there anything else that could cause the board to blow beside the compressor???

You show your unit to be 1 to 5 years old.

Most units have a 5 year warranty on the sealed system so I would check the operators manual.
