I have a GE GSS25TGMF referidgerator / freezer side by side.. I am currently having issues with the freezer.. Early in the week we woke up to the ice trays having melted ice and a few other things melted.

Not knowing what to do I just increased the "cold" setting so it was colder.. The next day we woke up and everything was frozen again.. I put some ice in my drink from the ice trays and it tasted like poison! I emptied them out and really didn't think much of it.. Then a few days pass and the same thing happens. Everything was melted.. I'm not sure what to do at this point..

Over the years we have had numerous problems with the freezer. First, the ice DISPENSER stopped working. The water dispenser worked fine and the ice MAKER worked fine it just wouldn't dispense.. Then, the water dispenser stopped working a little later. The lights on the front panel would flicker, sometimes go off and then a day later back on etc.. Then the ice maker totally froze and it doesn't work now either..

I've replaced the interface dispenser assembly and the Board asm main control when I was having the original issue with the dispenser. Neither of those fixed it permanently so I sent them both back.

ANy advice you can give to help me troubleshoot this would be MOST appreciated!

Thanks!!

You will need a meter to check things, otherwise we will just be guessing on the problem. Generally, it seems like you have a thermister problem or a bad motherboard in the back.

Go to my comments in the sticky above "GE refrigerator (GSS &PSS) models. In there are the pin #s to check at the motherboard for the thermister ohm measurements. If any thermisters are off value, replace them.
I have the original schematics but they are old and hard to read, not scannable. You MIGHT have the schematic behind the front kick panel, but don't bet on it.

I tried metering J2 on the motherboard but strangely didn't get any readings..

I have the GSS25TGMFCC and the motherboard part number is 200D2260G008.

Here are a few pics if they help (but I'm sure you know what it all looks like):

Some more info... The freezer has been working..

As I said in my original post.. The dispenser and ice maker have stopped working. Any ideas on how I can get those working? I get no lights on the front (see picture).. It went from working fine, to working intermittently, to just the ice dispensing, to neither dispensing, to the ice maker not working either over about a years time..

Thanks!

So these? Part Details - GE Sensor temp ff, part number: AP3185407

How many do I need and where are they located?

I'm assuming this is just to fix the freezer issue?

What about the issue I have with the ice maker and the dispensers?

Thanks!

The drivers for the water solenoid and auger are in the motherboard, so It might be defective, but hard to diagnose.
There is usually an evaporator thermister, a thin white plastic piece, clipped to the upper tubing of the evaporator, and another one on the bottom of the freezer.
