I have a GE that did about the same thing and after weeks I finally took out the main board and found that one of the transisters was fried. I put in a new board and it has been trouble free since. Does the freezer get cold? The frigde works from there, a door opens to give cold air to the frig when needed. Hope this helps, I'm just a homeowner, a do it yourselfer.

Hi How did you know the transister was fried? I read somewhere that if the problem is not in the board and you replace it, the new one will be destroyed. The temperature in our GE is not getting cold after the lightning/surge.
